Jennie Brownscombe was a prolific artist who was born and raised in Honesdale. Many of her paintings were based on the beauty of local people and their relationship to the surrounding landscape. Brownscombe studied at the National Academy of Design and was a founding member of the Art Students League. Her art is in numerous private collections including the Pilgrim Hall Museum. “The Berry Pickers” is a well-known example and one of my favorites.
